当时美国风行加州梦，很多人怀着这种所谓梦想。
它里面充斥着欲望。包括对现实的不满和绝望。歌词里隐含着一个肉体的“我”和一个精神的“我”。旅店就是那个看似nice其实肮脏迷乱的欲望世界。所有的东西都是自己的一场梦魇。
那把“钢刀”想刺死的是精神之火已熄灭的自己，也就是那个魔鬼。这是某个瞬间个人的警醒。
这首歌的涵义很广阔深远，不过总体就是这样，讽刺当时的“加州梦”。

有没有觉得一首歌本来感觉不错，被分析了之后觉得好象上了一堂无聊的英文课？
或者以后高中英文课可以用这个当教材？

我听这首歌的第一个感觉是带着迷幻色彩的有趣地方，大约是因为我的英文不够好
有点像看《百年孤独》时候的感觉
